Funny Friday #16

Everyday

[photo credit: Caty Collier, our sitter]
Everyday...

...i say things I don't mean and hope they forget them
...i say things I mean and hope they never forget them
...am surprised when my middle child rises early
...for 3 years he never fails to break the morning silence with "juice?"
...i wish I'd done the dishes the night before
...it seems to take me all day to do them
...i consider brushing teeth & hair [occasionally face] "getting ready"
...i remember when I took an hour or two "getting ready" [what was I doing?]
...i complain about the day to day chores, messes, diaper changes, and meals
...i remember there are those without houses to clean, children to make messes, diapers to use, or ingredients for dinner

Someone once said,
"Your life is made up of 'todays',
what you do today will be what you do with your life".

Reminding myself of this everyday, helps me remember that habits and love not practiced today won't magically appear in the legacy I leave.

Thankful Thursday Top Ten 44

[Today was a really hard day, I'm not going to lie.
Nevertheless, all the more reason to think of the things I am thankful for]

Thankful This Week For...

1. Local water park [we just got passes so we can beat the heat!]
2. Making it to the gas station even though I was puttering up to it
3. Remembering I forgot my wallet before I left the neighborhood
4. A new mill to mill grain [since our last -lasted 7 years- got broke in the move]
5. A freshly mowed lawn [that I didn't have to mow!!]
6. A neighbor that's letting us share one side of her fence
7. Homemade "metal detector" made of tinker toys
8. Hot baths
9. That I don't have to take a raft to my house
10. Hair on my head, even if I forgot to do something with it today & scared myself in the mirror

Indoor Activity: Moon Sand

I know what you're thinking...
moon sand + indoors = giant mess

Well you aren't exactly wrong about that.

However, I found this to be a great activity during the cold winter months, and days like today where it's 3 degrees from 100. Gives my boys something creative and busy to do indoors.

Using this roll-under-your-bed-tub does help contain the mess somewhat more than playing with it on the table.

I sweep the area before they play so that afterwards I can sweep any mess up and if it's clean I put it back into the tub...if it's mixed in with other messes I toss and still consider it money well spent.

I bought Moon Sand in bulk from Amazon, but you can also buy it at FatBrain Toys and these little tools for them to play with. They also like hiding buttons in it and playing "treasure hunt".

What has been your families moon sand experience?

My Life Lately

[this picture has nothing to do with my post]

I don't like to be in the habit of posting every other day, but my life lately has looked like this...

a husband who has been sick for months [on his 3rd cold now]
on top of his bronchitis
on top of his broken rib
on top of him launching his new website that's taken up a lot of his time
my three kids getting strep throat
a business dinner
a homebirth meeting
a homeschool meeting
[only] 6 boxes remaining to unpack
emptying two storage units
pool party
loosing my wallet & keys [finding them!]
working on a new etsy business
getting a logo designed for his business

It hasn't all been bad, and I'm not complaining, it's just been busy and full.

We leave for vacation in 6 weeks so I'm trying to get back on my Weight Watcher schedule and lose 10 lbs [2 lbs a week] like I was in the beginning. So I've been walking more, and will start back using e-mealz this week.

Add in my normal chores, child training, teaching, and I'm a busy girl.

Still...I love the outlet of photography and writing. Hope you'll stick around---even if it's every other day sometimes!

How is your summer starting?

June 1st tomorrow!

Funny Friday #15

This picture was not staged. I seriously have this weird problem...called open a bottle of water, drink from it, lose it and then not trust the kids haven't drank from it. So I open a new one and then stack them up around my sink and let the kids have them until they are gone.

Laugh away.

Moses here---eating his brothers mud pie mixture. Funny, and gross.

If there is something Nation is always working on---it's projects.
Here we have some left over new dryer vent piping.
Nation took it and "dressed" himself with it.
He played like this for an hour.
All I could think of was...lady gaga

***

Did your kids say anything funny to you this week? Mine did.

Me: Get in the car
Nation: Why
Me: We're going to get some lunch to eat
Nation: Why don't you just cook something here mom?
Me: Um, well, Chick-fil-a just cooks better than mommy
