I wish I had something funny to report, but this week was pretty rough with my oldest child. The whole week is sorta a blur after these last two days.
bottle of water poured into iPhone
several pieces of dishes broken
attempt climbing out a window [again]
getting out of carseat [again]
broken window screens
dissembled [older] iPod
pages of books torn out
coloring everywhere
attitudes, arguing, and lying oh my
I could go on...
He's a sweetheart, but he's will needs to be broken [again] for all things Jesus and not all things flesh. He's not like this all time [thankfully], but has moments/seasons of training and re-trainging. I've thrown in the towel a few times this week, but my husband has picked it back up. I love that kid more than anything, but he gets to me...and I'm pretty sure he knows. That's where I'm at, and I know where I'm working towards. Prayers and kind advice welcomed.
[In case you're wondering we do discipline him, but alternative/creative suggestions welcome]
I know that's life parenting, but nevertheless, a good laugh for us all...

Ugh! So sorry you've had a rough time with that young'un! Although the disassembled iPod IS kinda funny. Since he obviously likes breaking things/taking things apart, a trip to Goodwill for some old dishes (read: toys) may be in order! And the video was funny.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I am not the only one having a rough patch with one of my children! My Troy is as strong-willed as they come. Hopefully, we had a turning point (for the time being, anyway!) Wednesday, after a MAJOR temper tantrum. *shiver* Good luck to you!

You’ve been there before. Rolling out of the church parking lot in search of some grub, your stomach puts out a call for Chick-fil-A and your tongue happily co-signs the idea. But when you pull into the empty parking lot, you suddenly remember: It’s Sunday and Chick-fil-A is closed ... or is it? 2011 is the year Chick-fil-A puts an end to its almost 50-year old policy by opening its doors on Sundays for lunch. Like all good things, however, there is a catch. In order to sink your teeth into one of their delicious chicken sandwiches on the Lord’s Day, guests must present one of the following items: a weekend bulletin from a local church service, a tithe receipt from your church or an empty communion cup with sticky grape juice residue. Interestingly enough, by opening its doors on Sundays, Chick-fil-A indirectly causes a spike in church attendance, while at the same time creating a seedy underground market for fake church bulletins.
If it is any comfort, I think most moms have at least one child who pushes a lot. We have seven kids and our 3rd child has been a challenge since he was a toddler, and our 6th child (a girl) is currently throwing tantrums all over the place. I have noticed that with #6, I am SO much more mellow than with the first and second kids. It's like...go ahead, kid, you'll have to do better than that to impress me. I've seen it all before!
