Why I Think Jesus Was Really Jamaican

I think Jesus was really Jamaican because Jamaicans...

...are always on "beachtime" [you know, never in  rush, at rest]
...are always saying "No worries Mon"
...are always saying "I'll take care of you, don't worry"
...are always smiling
...are always laughing
...are always singing

**Don't be offended...I say all this in good fun...It's a compliment...Jesus=Awesome, Jamaicans=Awesome**

This is on my mind because our waiter every night,Jay, was from Jamaica. He was awesome. We actually went to Sandals Negril in Jamaica for our honeymoon. We almost went there again, but decided to try the cruise. Charles first time, and my third, but first time as an adult. We really enjoyed them both, but in different ways. I think the cruise was probably more expensive than staying at the resort. However, I think the resort was a little more boring than the cruise. The food was better on the cruise, but I probably relaxed more [no one around] at the resort. I'd say they were about even. Hence, everyone should take one trip to a resort and one trip on a cruise every year. Ha. Okay, in our dreams.

He just reminded me of the carefree life we all should be living. Full of joy despite the day to day life can throw at us. It's easy to be stress-free when you're vacation and away from work, but why is that? I think that's why we live for the weekends. I'd love to keep a "beachtime" attitude 365 days a year. My personally is pretty tightly wound and it's easy for me to grow grey hair over things that don't really matter.

At dinner one night, I asked a mom of 4 grown children [2 years apart] what her advice for me was. She said two things...

1. Don't let your kids play hockey [schedule is too hard & costs too much]
2. Relax and enjoy them ["they won't remember how clean your house was, but they will remember if/how you spent your time with them"]

Coming home today from the cruise, I'm thinking about this. I'm thinking about not letting the luggage I have to unpack from Ohio, Texas, Georgia, and the Caribbean overwhelm me. Or the stuff we need to put in storage and take out of storage [or that I lost the key a few weeks ago]. I don't want any of this to make me push my kids off my lap tomorrow because "I have things to do." Sure, I have to unpack, but it doesn't have to be done by 5pm tomorrow...or so I keep telling my personality.

I think I'm going to try something new. I might occasionally write a "P.S." section to my post. Free style writing for 5 minutes. Unedited. Clearly not grammatically correct either. Just me typing out my thoughts as them come. It could be dangerous, but mostly I hope it's just honest. My real thoughts...undirected.

---P.S.---

i have lots to do. i want my water and my phone, but they are in my bedroom and i'm a bit spent to get up and get them. did i just eat a [organic] pop tart for dinner? wondering if there is even a difference between organic pop tarts and real ones. i wish i hadn't spent the money on these nails. and i got them too long. they are pretty, but i can't type or txt. which is pretty much my life, right? i wish i'd bought a pearl ring on my trip. didn't want to spend the money on it, and didn't really find one i liked, but it would have been a nice souvenir. i'm not really much of a souvenir person. we went to disney once for a week with two kids and didn't even get one. come to think of it...all i got this time was a shirt, and that's only because Charles said he liked it on me, otherwise I'd brought back nothing. i didn't buy anything for us on our honeymoon either. we can afford to buy stuff, but usually i just prefer to experience the place and at best spend the money on a professional picture taken there and or a refrigerator magnet. my refrigerator is covered in them. sort of tacky, but memorable. i didn't get any on this trip because i was torn about if i still wanted to add to my collection. i probably should have just bought them anyways. i feel like i'm still on the boat--rocking back and forth. i wonder if i'll ever have one of those fancy refrigerators that magnets don't stick to. but i mean, how fun is that? i miss watching TV. i wonder what ever happen with Brothers and Sisters. i hope i read more this year. i have some audiobooks...if I could just get them to play on my iphone.
