Black & White Wordless [#14]

When 5 people live in 1000 sq. ft with no playroom...
...sometimes [a lot!] this happens.

If you saw my last home-from-traveling-room-disaster picture, you might be tempted to think they get it from me. They don't. I blame it on the suitcases.  My mom was gracious enough to clean a mess just like so while we were on our cruise, but unfortunately as I unpacked other rooms in the house the two older boys did this...again. It took us several hours to clean up, and once we did, we've been on strict keep-the-room-clean training.

Yesterday, they made a smaller mess three times. To which I made them clean it up and re-organize what they had un-organized. Charles asked the question..."is it worth it?" To which I replied, "yes"

For so many reasons, one main one being that they need a space to play and if it's messy and un-oragnized they won't play with their toys...so they run around the house and get into trouble. Thus, we're home and re-training how to play in our playroom/bedroom without taking out more than one type of toy[s] each.

Motto:
"If I don't make a huge mess, I don't have to clean up a huge mess"

Nation is a great sorter, Solomon...well, he tells me he's tired when I tell him to pick up. To which I reply..."So am I, keep cleaning"

  3. I SOOOOO now how you feel, we just moved out of a 1,000 SF home ourselves and there were 6 of us with all 4 kids sharing 1 room because it was a 2 bd house. Organization is KEY!! You CAN'T live without it! Now that we're in a bigger home (PRAISE THE LORD) it's amazing how they keep their stuff organized, teach them NOW and they will hopefully continue later. Tell Charles it is more than WORTH it in the end! Their future wives will appreciated you for it! Keep it up!!

  4. Oh yes, we practice this cleening up thing too. The girls are actually doing great and the oldest knows that she won't be getting her allowance if she doesn't keep her room tidy.

  5. I definitely relate! This is my guest room! Guests come over and I keep thinking it will stay like that. They leave, and everyone throws there stuff there. AUGH! :)

  6. I am totally living that now. They MUST clean up the present mess before moving onto another toy. It is work for me, but I must stick to it to keep my sanity.

  9. Oh man- do we live by that motto. The good news is that if you get them in that habit early enough - they might be like my son- whom I have not had to ask to clean his room in years. So happy he is in such a good habit. :)

    Great organizing job!!!

  10. Amen to that. Rory does pretty well with the "clean up one mess before you make another" rule. Liberty is another story. We call her Hurricane Liberty because she runs around and just grabs random things from every area of the house. I've found her in their play tent hoarding a baby doll, a bottle of toilet cleaner, mega bloks, and a framed picture of herself, LOL.
