T is for Turtle
I don't quit, I preserve.
Philippians 3:3:13,14
Hebrews 12:1
Galatians 6:9.
Heavily focusing on principle of perseverance so well laid out in The Little Engine That Could & The Tortoise and The Hare.
I was super close to buying us a turtle just for this week, but turns out our babysitter has a pet turtle so we "borrowed" him one evening. Interestingly enough, we saw turtles at both end of the spectrum---from tiniest to largest! One that lives in water and one that lives on land. The picture below is us at the zoo visiting a giant tortoise.
We read three books about sea turtles and two about perseverance.
Books:
Sea Turtle Story by Unknown
Sea Turtles by Marsh
One Tiny Turtle by Davies & Chapman
The Tortoise and the Hare by Stevens
The Little Engine That Could by Piper
Movie recommendation: Turtle The Incredible Journey
I had a few worksheets and crafts from Pinterest---some we got to and some we didn't. This last photo is of a paper plate turtle made out of 6 hexagons. His head is the 6th if you're recounting my 5 on his shell! [We studied the number 6 this week.]
