The Only Thing You Need For A Newborn

[Moses]

As a woman who tends to produce one every two years [and yes, I am due for an announcement soon, be patient], and as a woman who currently has 12 pregnant friends, not acquaintances, but friends. I am beginning to think I attract babies.

I have no problem with that.

So, they all ask, "What do I need on my registry?"

I'm remembering back when I first shopped for Nation, a little over 5 years ago, and how overwhelming the whole process was. All the silly things I thought I needed, and all the overpriced items I regrettably purchased. Lessons learned. Any veteran mom can tell you---

Although we all do enjoy different products, I'd say in general we all agree on one thing---

The only thing a newborn baby needs is: a mommy

I'm not saying diapers, clothes, blankets, and a place to sleep don't help. But they aren't really "needs", I wouldn't go as far to say they are in the "want" category either, I'd say they are practical items that are helpful for daily caring for a baby.

But if you're having a baby on a shoestring budget...you can still enjoy them.

Be thankful for them.

And not worry and fret about how you will pay for their car or college [today].

Just make sure to put some paper towels in your lap, as they do poopie about 12 times a day. I'm only kidding. Partially. Although, I'd still love to one day successfully EC my child from diapersir.gif

Fairtale. I know.

Hey, the rest of the world has figured it out!

So if you, or a mommy you know is anxious about what you have or what you don't have, remember, if you've got a baby in your belly or in your arms---it has everything it needs.

  1. this is great! when i was pregnant with my first son, i was so nervous that i wouldn't have everything ready when he arrived. after he was born, i realized that most of the stuff i had was just that....stuff. i didn't need any of it, and neither did he. because we had each other.

  2. A to the MEN!

And definitely don't buy a baby bathtub. Just stick them in the shower with Daddy, it's so.much.easier.

  3. "You can still enjoy them," "Be thankful for them," "And not worry" --Great advice, something that needs to be said more often! I think we too often feel that before we can have children we need to wait for the perfect house, that pay raise (you know the one that's always just out of reach), the bigger car, more free time... We don't realize that we're trading the biggest reward of all, the gift of life, for trivial pursuits of happiness.

  4. I love this post. It is so ture. My son never slept in the $400.00 crib that I thought he needed to have. He just wanted to be held by his mommy and daddy. ♥

  5. I definitely want to try EC with my next baby (whenever God decides to bless us with another). Unless I have twins, which is what we are praying for. Haha!

& I think I counted 11 pregnant friends last time I sat & thought about it. Such a happy time! :)
