Blogger Vacations in Dayton

[if you consider watching three kids 70 hrs a week alone a vacation]

And so the blogger blog begins. Geocities, Xanga, Facebook, Myspace [haven't logged on in so long I forgot my password], Facebook again, Twitter [just kidding, lame...why do I need two places that update my status?], and now Blogger.

Next up, probably Wordpress I hear it's better than Blogger, but more complicated. Seeing as how I've already spent an hour about to cry over this background [or lack there of] I'll save that for another day. Don't be surprised if my blog name, background and address change.

Usually when we travel for Charles' work I write some type of online updates.

This will be our 7th travel job in 5 years:
Bristol, CT
Jackson, MS
Los Angeles, CA
Houston, TX
Nashville, TN
Charlotte, NC
Dayton, OH

Usually we are gone for 2-4 months. Here is a picture of our new apartment:

Dayton Likes:
1. 500 extra square feet+none of our junk
2. A den turned playroom [does anyone have a playroom? share your excitement, they rule]
3. Parking space 25 feet away
4. Pool just a few more feet away [will count tomorrow]
5. It's all free
6. Walmart, Sam's, & Mall 1 mile away
7. Super sweet next door neighbors who already love my kids & invited over for popsicles [bonus they have a dog]
8. Dayton police officers spotted carrying out old woman's groceries to her car

Dayton Dislikes:
1. Too soon to tell
2. My friends & family & church don't live here

Items Charles didn't see kids throw in cart at Wal-Mart [non-super, who knew they still existed?] while checking out.

The [terrible quality] picture I took of my kids on my iPhone before heading out to the pool. Interestingly enough the kids entered the pool and the adults exited to the hot tub. I don't think any other kids live in these apartments, so I'm sure we'll be famous, I mean disliked soon.

I was determined to get this posted perfectly by August 1 because I like 1st of the months and 1st of the week, so happens August 1 fell on both. I also wanted to start my "post-baby diet/stop eating like you're still on summer vacation diet" today too, but you can't win them all. I'm pretty sure we ate Waffle House for breakfast, Burger King for lunch and too many snacks for "dinner".

Hopes for the blog: tell my story, encourage others in the Lord, make people laugh, have a huge following of other cool mothers, no give-aways, get paid because my blog is so witty & awesome [jk], and post better-than-pioneer women-pictures of our life not taken on my iPhone [fail for today]. Or something like that.

Love, the ALWAYS Curious Georgi

  3. Alanna, I just thought it was awesome that the guys drinking in the pool would strike up random conversation with every female that came within walking view [even yelling up at balconies], but never acknowledge me...ha ha. I guess the three kids gave me away as taken...or it could have been my bathing suit skirt vs bikini.

  4. It was definitely the skirtsuit. :)

Once I remember how to follow people on here, I will be a happy follower!

  5. I like this! I think you will like doing the blogging thing. I kept a Wordpress blog for about a year a few years ago and while it is a lot better in a lot of ways, Blogger is just way more user friendly. Congrats on starting! I'll follow you!
