Scrapbooking Weekend Retreat

Last Friday, my bestie, Sarah, and I went away for the weekend [Friday-Sunday] to a scrapbooking retreat about an hour away. There were about 30 ladies there. I have only been on one other and it was about 6 years ago, so I was very excited [especially have my 2 year scrapbooking hiatus] to get back in the game. After all, I have a baby that is due to arrive in 6 months and I haven't even started Moses' baby album. Did I mention he just turned 2?

I only do a first year album [paper] for my individual kids, and then a once a year album [use to be paper, now it's gonna be digital] for our entire family. That album includes pictures and stories from everyone in our family and all that we did that year. It's just too much work and not enough time for me to make 18 albums for all our current and future children. I mainly use Creative Memories supplies, but also enjoy the occasional stop by Archivers

I'm a slow scrapbooker, but I got about 22 pages done over the course of 2 full days. I did talk, eat, and sleep a lot too. Did I mention I had to choose, print, and organize over 450+ photos in date order first?

I'd say it wasn't uncommon for women in that retreat to get between 50-100 pages done.

Moses' album will end up about 80 pages, here are the first 22.

How To Waste Time Wanting To Be More Creative

I'm always the last to find out about things...so I'm sure all my awesome readers

already know about Pinterest [spell check still doesn't], but for those of

you...like me...welcome to the world of Pinterest

Martha Stewart Wannabees+Facebook+Twitter+DIY+Timesucker=Pinterest

Just stay away.

You'll...

a. stop cooking breakfast, lunch & dinner because you're busy "pinning"

b. realize how uncreative you currently are, which leads to---

c. telling yourself "I can do this" "I'm going to start being more crafty"

d. decide you need a part time job to support your new hobbies

e. being on Pinterest every time your husband looks over your shoulder

f. start receiving even more emails now telling you your pins were repinned

It's free.

It sucks you in.

Here's what it looks like---

You have "boards" which are a fancy name for categories. So far I have 21.

Like: "Things I'll never bake" and "All things Pink" and "Playroom Ideas" etc

You browse around on this google-images-meets-etsy-meets-magazinelike

search engine of creative fantasy land and "pin" the items you like. Then you

organize them.

It's window shoppers & OCD women's worst nightmare best dream.

Come over and follow me in pinterest!

What did you think?
