Corn Mazes are for Scarecrows, Not Toddlers

After Saturday mornings festivities, Saturday night we went to Adventures Acres, which just so happens to be down the road from us. They have the states' largest corn maze. Sounds fun right? I'll tell of that in a minute.

At the conclusion of our evening as the sun was setting, we loaded Solomon in the Ergo on Charles' back and Moses on my back in the Boba and Nation followed behind with glow stick necklace and flashlight in hand. Off we go to the dark corn fields of Ohio...Charles, myself, the kids, my brothers and my mom.

[All I could think of was the corn fields in Signs]

It didn't take long before we complained our way out of the 9 mile tour and opted for the "kiddie" 2 mile version [estimated at 1-3 hours]. We'd taken two steps into the maze and gotten lost already. We wondered around laughing, nearly crying, and growing tired of the exercise. I think Nation said it best when he asked...

"Why are we walking around not doing anything?"

45 minutes later...I cried out to Jesus...and then quickly found our way back.

Attempt a corn maze. Check.

Attempt again in this life time. Negative.

  1. Ohmigosh that sounds torturous. 9 miles?!?! Even 2 miles is too many. But the pictures were awesome!!!

  3. We DEFINITELY opted for the kiddie one when we went. Our kids did really like it and thought it was such an adventure. They gave us a map so that REALLY helped! All of the kids thought that they were helping navigate which was such an adventure to them.

  4. i think our main issue was that we shouldn't have left the corn maze to be our final destination that evening. although, we did arrive at the place at like 6, or 7 so either way we would have been in the dark. it would probably be more fun to go during the day and when other people are around. it was kinda scary to be in the dark, done, but can't find your way back to the entrance

  5. Oh but the photo of him in the corn is AMAZING and so worth getting lost for years in the maize maze. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Well, at any rate you got some great photos that seem to me to be worth all the drama.

LOVE the one of the boy's jean butts on the fence. The depth of field on that shot is perfection. And the middle corn picture (the vertical one) has amazing light and color.

We heat our home with a corn burner, so I loved your boys in the corn photos too. It won't be long and I'll be posting pictures of dusty corn dirty boys too. :) Wait a minute... your kids don't look filthy from the corn, they cleaned the corn or something? That's just wrong.

  7. I wouldn't want to be in a corn maze at night... they are bad enough during the day. Having said that, I have been to several that I've really enjoyed, but last year all I wanted to do is get out!

Beautiful pictures! I'm looking forward to our annual corn maze and pumpkin picking excursion if for no other reason than to get some fun pics.

  9. Heya this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or
if you have to manually code with HTML. I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
